About Chevening Scholarship
Chevening Scholars are international students who have been admitted to study at a university in the United Kingdom. Any university in the United Kingdom that provides the master’s degree you’re interested in is fair game for this scholarship program.

If selected as a Chevening Scholar, you will be able to attend one of these institutions and receive an excellent education.
To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
- You must have completed an undergraduate degree.
- You must have at least two years of work experience.
- You must meet the English language requirement.
- You must receive an offer of admission to a master’s degree program at a UK university.
Chevening-eligible countries and territories include over 160 countries worldwide, including India, Brazil, China, and Nigeria. The full list of eligible countries can be found on the Chevening website.
The work experience requirement can be met through any form of employment, including full-time, part-time, or volunteering. The English language requirement can be met through a number of different tests, including the TOEFL, IELTS, and Pearson Academic.
Value of the Chevening Scholarship
The Chevening Scholarship covers the whole cost of a one-year master’s program at an institution in the United Kingdom. The award consists of a tuition waiver, a stipend to cover living expenses while in the UK, airfare to and from the country, a welcome allowance, a thesis grant, and funding to travel to and participate in Chevening activities in the United Kingdom.
Chevening Scholarship in London provided up to £18,000 for tuition fees, a monthly stipend of £1,163 for living expenses, and a one-time allowance of £2,000 for relocation and visa application fees.
How to Apply
In order to apply for Chevening, you will need to fill out a form on their website. In most years, applications are available in August and must be submitted by the beginning of November.
Information about yourself, including personal background, education, job experience, and leadership characteristics, must be included on the application form. Writing multiple essays about your qualifications for the scholarship and your plans for using your studies to better the world will also be required.
Online application form, you will need to provide the following documents:
- A valid passport or national ID card.
- An academic transcript and degree certificate.
- Two references, one of which must be from your current employer or a university professor.
- English language test scores (if applicable).
- A conditional or unconditional offer of admission to a master’s degree program at a UK university.
