Are you emotionally down? that is a good news for you.
“Wait, what?!?” Don’t scream my head off.
Discouragement typically affects people who are dissatisfied with their lives and are attempting to better them. It has no effect on the idle, the uninspired, or the disinterested.
No, it mainly affects determined people that want more out of life.
When things don’t go as planned, it’s easy to become down on oneself. Or if biases they’ve been taught to hold from infancy raise their heads and cause problems.
So, if you’re depressed, you’re on the right track. You may feel like you’ve failed when you’re down. You may believe that winning is not in your destiny. Or that you are insufficient.
All of these emotions are mirages.
Let us dispel the most common myths that keep individuals back.
You need to go to college.
This is one of the most common false beliefs that makes people give up. A person with a drive will never be stopped by their lack of education.
When you think about it, formal education just teaches you to remember a lot of useless facts that don’t help you in any way.
As an entrepreneur, you can make a place for yourself in the world. Forget about jobs that require a piece of paper. Work at any job that will hire you, and when you have time, keep working on your business.
Many of the world’s richest and most successful people quit school.
Money is needed.
This is true, but only partly. You’ll need money to start a business. But you can save this money, and if you work hard, you can find people willing to put money into your business. You can solve this money problem as long as you don’t give up.
Many of the most successful business owners came from humble beginnings and started from scratch. Never give up because you don’t have enough money.
You are being held back by the government.
The government can make most entrepreneurs’ lives harder by raising taxes, making more rules, and doing a lot of other stupid things.
This has been going on for decades, and it won’t stop any time soon.
There will ALWAYS be ways to beat the system, though. If you looked at the biggest companies in the world, you’d see that they pay (legally) the least amount of taxes; they send their jobs to countries where workers are cheaper; and so on.
And they have a lot of money.
You may not have their money or ability to lobby, but you are in charge of your life and business. No matter which government is in charge, there will always be people who make a lot of money. You can do it too if they can.
Too much time will be needed.
It will take a long time, but what else are you going to do?
It may seem like a long time if it takes you 10 years to build a seven-figure business. It’s true. But what if you don’t start because you know it will take ten years?
Well, in 10 years, you’ll probably still be stuck at the same job you have now, and you’ll probably make the same amount of money. There would have been no difference.
Time will go by… You might as well start right away and have something to show for it. Winning takes time. You have to deal with that and not let it get you down.
You’re doing worse than everyone else.
Thorstein Veblen wrote a book called The Theory of the Leisure Class. In it, he used the term “conspicuous consumption.”
There has never been a time when this was so common, and social media has helped make it even worse. Instagram is full of photos of people having the best times of their lives.
They are either in mansions, at resorts with pools, in front of fast cars, or at the gym, among other places. Or they buy expensive watches, drink expensive wine, or act out other dramatic fantasies about their lives.
There is always an illusion of success in front of your face… It can be very disheartening, too.
Everyone else seems to be doing well except you; you can’t seem to get your business off the ground, your finances under control, your family together, and you haven’t taken a vacation in over two years.
Learn this: everything you see is an optical illusion.
Images shared on social media are edited to showcase only the best moments. Many of them are jobless, broke, and unhappy with their lives.
This is, in fact, the standard practice. All humans need favorable opinions from others around them. So, constantly trying to get “likes” and “engagement” on social media is an impossible goal to meet.
The real world may be a muddy and grimy place, especially when you’re down in the trenches earning your keep.
There is no time to look good in pictures or to seek approval from others. Keep your eye on the prize and prioritize your efforts.
The most effective way to overcome these false beliefs is to deeply believe that if you truly want to achieve something, then NOTHING can stand in your way.
In order to achieve success, your motivation must be stronger than any potential setbacks.
Once you know what really drives you and have faith in your ability to reach your goals, nothing will stop you from moving forward.
You’ll have an inner knowing that you can do it, and you will.
